VENICE UNDERMINED.
WASH FROM MOTOR BOATS. PRIVATE PALACES IMPERILLED. (United Press Association—Copyright) VENICE, October 26. An architectural committee recommends that the 800 motor boats which are in use on the Grand Canal daily be excluded. The committee says that the wash is destroying the foundations of homes and private palaces. Twenty years of motor traffic has done more harm than centuries of tides. Five publie buildings lining the canal are either under repair or are being reconditioned at great cost. It is estimated that the reconditioning of private palaces will cost double their market value.
