PACIFIC FLIGHTS
ULM AND KINGSFORD SMITH. FORMER TO START NOVEMBER 20 THREE MEMBERS OF CREW. (United Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 12.15 p.m.) HONOLULU, October 26. Mr Leon Skilling lias announced that Flight-Lieut. C. T. P. Ulm. has been testing a 'plane in England for his flight from Canada to Australia, starting probably on November 20. Mr Skilling stated that he is to be navigator, Mr George M. Littlejohn, of Australia, co-pilot. Mr Skilling is on the Aorangi, en route to Montreal, to jmeet Flight-Lieut. Ulm. They plan landing at Honolulu, Suva, Auckland and-Melbourne. They' will use a low-winged land monoplane, Mr J. S. W. Stannage, Sir Charles Kingsford Smith's business manager, is also on the Aorangi. He has been Wheel Field,Honolulu,and also making fuel arrangements. He says that Sir Charles Kingsford Smith plans to fly very high when nearing Hawaii in the hope of finding a tail wind. Surface trade winds would be blowing against him at this season, but the Navy aerographer .at Pearl Harbour says that there is a good chance of a .'favourable wind above GOOO feet.
HONEST AND UPRIGHT. SIR CHARLES NO TRICKER, MELBOURNE, October 26. Speaking at a Centenary luncheon, Sir Macpherson Robertson said that he had received many letters suggesting that Sir Charles Kingsford Smith had tricked him. Warmly defending Sir Charles, Sir Macpherson said that he had always found him honest and upright, and was cinviriced that if he had entered the race he would have been a close finisher with C. W- A. Scott.
