THE OMISSION OF VOCE.

DISAPPOINTMENT EXPRESSED. (■Received This Day, 12.30 p.ni.) ■ LONDON, August 12. The “Daily Chronicle,” in a leader, says: “Many will' be disappointed at the emission of Yoce after his consistent bowling against the Australians. He showed that the type of bowling of which he and Larwood are exponents is most difficult for Australians to play successfully. But there is the case of keeping controversy out of the last Test match. We are not disposed to criticise the selectors’ decision, since this case is strong enough to over-ride other arguments.” E. R. Moult, in the “Daily Telegraph,” _says: “'.Clio omission of Voce from those to attend at the Oval has caused keen disappointment. His success on Saturday was obviously not fortuitous, and would have been greater if he had received help from the pitch. I made inquiries here whether the fairness of Voce’s methods was likely to be doubted, and was assured, on behalf of the Australians, that they find no resemblance between the leg-theory at Trent Bridge and_, body-line, to which they objected in Australia.” The “Daily Express” says: “Unhesitatingly, Voce’s bowling was absolutely fair. He should go into England's team. ..The choice of Peebles is a sheer puzzle. Most Australians play his bowling easier than almost any. sort:'*'
