STRIKE IN AMERICA.
.ALUMINIUM PLANTS IDLE. * (United Press Association-Copyright) NEW YORK, August 11. Six plants of the Mellon-controlled Aluminium,, Corporation of America closed to-day through a strike of their 15,000 operatives, who are demanding union recognition under the National Recovery Act of higher wages and shorter hours. Peaceful picketing has started at the three plants at Pittsburgh and the others in Missouri and Tennessee for a long-drawn-out battle.
