THE ASHBURTON CLUB. v MEDAL MATCHES PLAYED. —— ' Senior and junior medal matches were played by members of the Ashburton Golf Club on Saturday afternoon. Weather conditions were perfect and in order to save the fairways teeing up was made compulsory. In the senior match C. J. Bonnington, R. B. Lambert, and_T. CHRISTCHURCH, August 12. Strong teams from the Christchurch and Otago Golf Clubs met at Slnriey to-day for the annual matches tor the Hanmer • and Campbell Hosking Shields. Canterbury won by 7to 5. A feature of the day was the match in which B. V. Wright (New Zealand amateur champion) heat A. R- Blank (Shirley champion) by 6 and 5. Wright was round in 70, two less than the scratch score.- of the course, andi did the first half in 33. ■ Matches resulted, Otago names first: Foursomes. Wright and Ferguson drew with Blank and Ward.
