PERSONAL.
The Minister of Public Works (the Hon. J. Bitchener) passed through Ashburton on the south-bound express train this morning.
The Hon. Sir James Allen, M.L.C., was a passenger for the south on the express train this morning.
The flag at the Ashburton Post Office was flown at half-mast to-day as_ a mark of respect to the late Hon. Dr. W. E. Collins, M.L.O.
The Rev. R. J. Liddell, of Carterton and formerly of Ashburton, is visiting the town and will. preach in the Baring Square Methodist Church to-morrow morning.
