STOKER COLLAPSES.
DEATH AT FAIRFIELD WORKS. Mr William Ching, a married man, aged 65, residing at 36 Albert Street, Ashburton, collapsed and died this morniftg while engaged in his work as a stoker at the' Canterbury Frozen Meat and Export Company’s Fairfield Works. He was seen by his mate to fire the furnace about 10.30 a.m., and then reel hack and fall over a heap of coal. A doctor w*as summoned and pronounced life to he extinct. An inquest will follow.
