BOXING.
WHEN LEN HARVEY WAS HOOTED Len Harvey, the holder of the British heavyweight and light-heavyweight boxing championships and of the British- Empire heavyweight title, had the very unpleasant' experience of being hooted' out of the ring at the Royal Albert Hall, London, a few weeks ago. J. Tarante, a coloured American boxer, was adjudged by the referee to have fouled Harvey half-way through the fifth round of what was to have beeiT a 12-round contest. The crowd was in two minds about the referee’s decision, Directly he received the blow Harvey dropped to his knees and held his right hand to his head. It seemed obvious to ringside critics that'he could not get to his feet to beat the count, and the referee disqualified Tarante at once. The fight which was at catchweiglxts and involved no title, was not particularly thrilling. Tarante. went for the body from the start, but lie found in Harvey’s defence something better than he had encountered before.
