RADIO LICENSES.
NINETY-NINE PER CENT. RENEWED. (Per Press Association). WELINGTON, May 31. The Postmaster-General announced to-day that the number of radio licenses renewed on April I, 1934, was •100,000. This represents 99 per cent, of the number previously in force. At this date last'year 86 per cent had been renewed. When invited to comment on the figures, Mr E. C. Hands (general manager of the New Zealand Broadcasting Board) said, “I consider the position most gratifying. It cannot he interpreted as meaning anything else, but satisfaction with the board s policy.” Mr Hands said he felt there would be 150,000 listeners in New Zealand by the end of the next licensing year.
