AREAS IN THE SOUTH ISLAND. GOVERNMENT READY TO. BUY. (Per Press Association). CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The Government is still prepared to consider offers of, land in the South Island for purchase and settlement under the small-farm scheme. So far there have been few offers and the scheme lias made little headway. In discussing the position this morning the Minister of Lands (the 'Eon. E. A. Ransom) said there was very little undeveloped Crown land in (the North Island.
