CHARGE AGAINST A JEWELLER.
DIAMOND RING IN QUESTION

Before a magistrate (Mr E. D. Mosley) to-day, Thomas Hornsby, a jeweller, was charged with receiving, on May 28, from Ronald Dempsey Crook, a lady's diamond ring, valued at £3O, the property of Henrietta Murphy, knowing it to have been dishonestly obtained. .;,-..'■....'. ■ /•'..'. • The police said that accused was wellknown in the city. He had been in Court before in connection with offences against the Second-hand Dealers' Act. The police urged that the bail be substantial. Accused was remanded till next Thursday on bail of £2OO and one surety of £2OO. ' The case is the sequel to the alleged robbery at Colonel Murphy's house, Fendaiton.
