QUESTION OF PROTECTORATES. i i ■■ (United Press Association— Copyright). LONDON, May 29. In the House of Commons, the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs (Mr J. H. Thomas) said he had received from General Hertzog (Prime Minister of South Africa), a personal letter submitting certain reasons for asking that the question of the transfer to the Union of South Africa of various native protectorates' adjoining the Union might be further considered. Mr Thomas added, in reply to further question, that no communication had been received from the protectorates themselves in regard to the matter.—British Official Wireless.
