The missing trampers, Messrs Lysaght and Mason, are reported .to be safe. They were delayed through Mr Lysaght falling and injuring his arm and hip. He is*’ still slightly incapacitated. SEARCH PARTIES GO OUT. CHRISTCHURCH, May 29. Messrs James F. Lysaght and Brian Mason, two members of the University Tramping Club, left Arthur’s Pass eight days ago for the Carrington Hut to make the three pass trip to Hokitika-, hut they have not been heard of since and anxiety is felt at their prolonged absence. Given average weather the journey should occupy three or four days if a circuit of Lake Kanieri is made. The men carried provisions for one week. Search parties were organised to-day from Christchurch and Hokitika. That from Christchurch left to-niglit, while that from Hokitika is expected to leave to-morrow morning. V 1 NO WORD AT NOON TO-DAY. BOUGH WEATHER RECENTLY. CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Messrs James F. Lysaght and Brian Mason, members of the Canterbury College Tramping Club, were still missing at noon, despite search of that portion of the snowclad mountainous region between the head of the Waimakariri River and the West Coast into which they adventured eight days ago. They should have reached Hokitika last Thursday, being thus now five days overdue. The weather recently, it is stated, has been very rough, with much snow, hut it is fine now. Botli men were experienced mountaineers and were well prepared for the trip. The searchers assume that Messrs Lysaght and Mason would leayo a message regarding their movements at the huts reached by them. By following the chain of huts the searchers hope to find some trace of the missing men in a short time. By conducting a search from both terminals of the route it is also hoped to save time.
