At the annual meeting of the Dunedin Bowling Centre this evening henselite bowls came up for discussion and a chart was submitted showing the densities of the various makes of bowls according to tlie Firth hardometer test. Under this test the density of lignum vitae was given as 31, and henselite as 50, this being the highest of all makes. The following resolutions were carried : Delegates to the Dunedin Centre, being convinced that the henselite bowls in use locally have done damage to and thus proved injurious to wooden howls, .request the council of the New Zealand Bowling Association, before granting its approval of the henselite bowl, to consider carefully high density test of the Henselite bowls in comparison with wooden bowls will not lead to premature and speedy deterioration of the wooden howl, 95 per cent (approx.) of which is at present in use in New Zealand; (2)
whether he time has not arrived, in the interests of the preservation of wooden bowls, to adopt a recognised density test for nil bowls and lix by such test a 'maximum hardness or density that may be permitted in any future type of composition bowl being introduced into New Zealand.
