EVIDENCE AT GISBORNE. . THE SALE OF GRASS SEED. 1 _____ ■ # (Per Press Association). GISBORNE, This Day. The Native Affairs Commission opened to-day. In evidence John White Scott related the* affairs of the Mohalca development scheme, the records of which were found to be incomplete. Seed had been supplied to an outside station, and no payment made till two years afterwards. Grass seed valued at £769 was supplied to the Ngatiporou Dairy Company for »ssue to persons outside the scheme. No arrangements were made for payment. Native farmers signed the wages sheets for £336. The money was applied to the liquidation of the debt for grass seed, some of these farmers being well-to-do and none, as far as lie knew, unemployed.
