CONTROL OF NEWSPAPERS.
PARIS, Alay 1. M. F rancois Coty has lost control of the century-old newspaper “Le Figaro.” Beginning his career by hawking scent from door to door, Coty amassed such a fortune in scent-making that he is reputed to have received £10,000,-. 000 from am American company for a half-share in 1928.
As part of a divorce settlement, totalling £3,400,000, AL Coty s wife received a block of shares in “.Le Figaro.” She systematically bought up all the other shares available until she obtained control of the paper and is now planning its extensive reorganisation. She is now married to a young Rumanian. • ’ j ! \ ■
