VISIT TO CHRISTCHURCH.

The Governor-General has been asked to communicate to the people of the Dominion the following statement, which forms part of an announcement to be made from Buckingham Palace to-day concerning the proposed visit of the Duke of Gloucester to Australia and New Zealand:—

His Royal Highness will arrive at Wellington, New Zealand, on December 15. He will visit many other places of interest in the Dominion during his stay there. He will spend Christmas at Government House, Auckland, and after crossing to the South Island on January 4 will stay at Christchurch from January 9 to January 11, and at Dunedin from January 18 to 21. He will leave Dunedin on January 21 for Lyttelton and embark there in H.M.A.S. Australia.

After his departure from Lyttelton he will spend a few days at the Bay of Islands in order to enable him to visit Russell and Waitangi, and also to give him an opportunity for some deep-sea. fishing. His Royal Highness will then proceed to Fiji for a short visit, and will afterwards call at "Western Samoa.
