TEN WICKETS WIN

AUSTRALIA v. MIDDLESEX.

ENTHOVEN DOES THE HAT TRICK VISITORS' GOOD SPIN BOWLERS. (United Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, May 28. Bradman (100)'and Darling (33) resumed Australia's first innings in the match against Middlesex at Lord's, in cool and cloudy weather on a good wicket. At the luncheon adjournment the score was 319 runs for six wickets, Bradman being out for 160. Saturday's play closed with Middlesex all out for 258 and Australia, 135 for two wickets

Smith got Darling in the second over, Darling snicking the ball straight into the wicket-keeper's 'hands. Bradman continued brilliantly, hitting Enthoven for four, six and four with successive balls. The sixer was a magnificent straight -drive over the pavilion rails. The second four was to square leg, and the umpire ducked just in time to avoid a venomous hook to the boundary, off Judge, which struck a spectator behind the ropes. Kippax settled down comfortably and played some delightful shots. Runs came at a tremendous rate, Bradman scoring 150 in 110 minutes. But when the partnership had added 84 in 35 minutes, Bradman attempted to hit Peebles for six and was splendidly caught on the boundary, Hulme falling' and rolling over as he took the ball. Bradman batted for 125 minutes, hitting one sixer and 27 fours. The innings was chanceless. IHe has played a more important innings in England, but has never approached the sheer brilliance of this one. Toward the end he began to take more risks than at the beginning. After Bradman's departure Robins came on against Kippax and Chipperfield, bowling' impressively. A strange quietness came over the scene' after Bradman left, but the scoring was at a comfortable rate.

Kippax scored an elegant 50 in 56 minutes. Eventually Robins, who had previously troubled him, dismissed him leg before. He had batted for 70 minutes, hitting six fours. Chipperfield, after his unusually quiet start, scored briskly and 300 appeared for 185 minutes. "Enthoven in his first over after luncheon achieved the hat trick, his third, fourth and fifth J:>alls dismissing Grimmett, Ebeling and Wall without addition, to.the score, which was 319 for six. This is the only hat trick scored against the Australians in this or the 1930 tour.

Barnett hit with skill and courage. The last wicket added 26 before Barnett played on. The innings lasted 225 minutes.

Eleven thousand people saw Middlesex re-open with Price and Hart. Both scored a couple of fours before the former was caught in the slips. Ebeling again bowled Hulme for a duck. Hendren was quickly off. the mark, but the total was-45 for three when Hart went out, in O'Reilly's first over. Hendren and Robins, the heroes of the first innings, stubbornly endeavoured to retrieve the position. O'Reilly set a leo- trap for Robins and the batsman eventually fell into it. Hendren's innings ended when he jumped out and drove a ball hard back to Grimmett, who took a. splendid low catch. Allen was out next ball and at the tea adjournment the score was 83 for With the spin bowlers making excellent use of the prematurely wearing wicket, Middlesex were all out for 114. Darlina and Barnett quickly scored the 28 required, the Australians winning by ten wickets. Scores: —•, MIDDLESEX. First Innings ..-258 Second Innings.
