UNEMPLOYMENT TRIBUNAL. DUNEDIN REJECTS PROPOSAL. (Per Press Association). DUNEDIN, May 23. The City Council had before it tonight a proposal made by the certifying officer of the Unemployment Bureau that a tribunal should be set up in Dunedin, which would decide whether certain men classified as fit for light work should continue to remain ; a charge on unemployment funds. It was stated that the proposal was to sot up a similar tribunal in each centre. •" A committee of the council recommended the appointment of a councillor as representative on the tribunal, but the discussion showed that the proposal of the Unemployment Board was considered to be an effort to place responsibility on local bodies and the statement was made that such a body would be a chopping-block between the board and the unemployed, lne council decided unanimously n.t to be represented on the tribunal.
