Miss A. F. McCrostie, of Christchurch, arrived in Ashburton yesterday and commenced duty to-day as nurse in charge of the Ashburton West Dental Clinic, in_ succession to Miss T. K. West, who has been transferred to Kaikoura and Hawarden,
A cablegram from London states that Mr D. 11. Jardine, the famous English cricketer, is affianced to Miss Margaret Irene Peat, younger daughter of Sir Harry and Lady Peat. Sir Harry is senior member of a wellknown firm of chartered accountants.
