THE WOOL MARKET. BRISBANE SALES ENDED. United Press Association—Copyright). (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. The wool sales have ended. Japan was the principal buyer. A total of 14,562 bales was offered yesterday and nearly all sold, Germany, France, Italy and Bradford also supporting well. A selection of good to average lower grades sold well at prices relatively aboye fleeces. The highest price for scoured was 3l£d and for greasy 21£d. The average prices for the week for greasy was 15d a pound, or between £l9 10s to £2O a bale. QUOTATIONS AT BRADFORD. (Received This Day, 10.40 a.m.) LONDON, September 14. The Bradford wool market is firm and quiet, pending the opening of the London sales. Quotations for tops are seventies 36d, sixty-fours 34d, sixties 33d, fifty-sixes 22Jd, fifties ISJd, fortysixes forties 10§d.
THE METHVEN STOCK SALE. The fortnightly stock sale was held in the N Methven saleyards yesterday, when there was a large attendance of farmers. Only a few fat sheep were penned and tiiese were taken by local butchers. The yarding of store sheep was also small, but the quality of ewes on offer and the recent rain put added life into the sale. A very much larger offering of cattle brought good prices on the whole, while pigs were keenly sougnt after. The principal sales were:— Sheep.—Three fat ewes at 25s 3d, 3 ditto at 245, 1 at 225, 4 at 22s 6d, 1 at 22s 3d, 1 at 235, 72 full and failingmouth three-quarter-bred ewes in lamb at 12s 3d, 102 half-bred ewes in lamb at 17s 3d, 99 cross-bred ewes in lamb at 13s 9d, 120 sound-mouth half-bred ewes in lamb at 13s, 47 merino ewesin lamb lis 6d. Cattle. —Two yearling steers at Bs, heifers in profit at £2 7,s 6d, £3 ss, 2 steers at £2 17s 6d, 3 yearling heifers at £1 12s, Jersey heifer at £3, springer at £1 17s 6d, £2 12s 6d, yearling heifer lis, 2 steers at £2 12s 6d, cow at £1 Ss, fat cows £6 17s 6d, £6 12s 6d, cow 52s 6d, 80s, springers £2 ss, £3, £4 ss. Pig.s.—Nine weaners at 12s to 14s, 4 ditto at 13s Gd, 2 at 15s 6d, 2 at 15s, 3 at 15s, 1 at 13s, 6 at 15s, 5 at 16s 6d, 1 at 14s 6d, porker 30s, sow £l, 6 weaners at lis, 2 stores at- 17s, 1 porker at 325.
