TO-DAY'S FORECAST. /.Per Press Association). WELLINGTON, This Day. The Government Meteorologist, at noon to-day, issued the following statement regarding the weather:— General inference: The development of a cyclone centre east of the Auckland Peninsula caused a temporary fall of pressure in the north last night. At the same time an intense anti-cyclone is advancing across the Tasman Sea. The situation therefore favours strong southerly winds. Further advance of tbe anti-cyclone, however, should bring a favourable change. The forecast for the east coast of the South Island from Blenheim to Oamaru is as follows:

Moderate to strong southerly winds, gradually decreasing. Weather: Cold and changeable with scattered: and mainly light showers but improving soon. Seas: Rather rough.
