To-day's cablegrams from Tooley Street sbow that finest New Zealand butter is quoted at 100 s per cwt. This is the highest point reached this year, and the highest since last October. The upward movement, which has been fairly steady since August, is regarded with jubilation. It is considered that so long as farmers can skip all their produce, the rising prices will be of untold psychological as well as. of considerable material value. Canada has made too much butter and finds itself with 10,000,0001 b more than needed for domestic consumption this winter. Representatives of the National | Dairy Council are conferring with the Minister of Trade and Commerce and the Minister of Agriculture to see what is to be done about it. The Canadian produco sells at a discount on the British market compared with New Zealand butter. Holders in Canada are reported to be prepared to ship the surplus to the United Kingdom and sell at a loss rather than glut the domestic market, and recoup on the seasonal advance on upwards of 30,000,0001 b sold, for home consumption. AIDING EXPORT TO BRITAIN. GOVERNMENT ACTION' SOUGHT. (Received This Day, 12.50 p.m.) REGINA, September 13. With a surplus of 9,000,0001bs of butter on August 1, the three prairie provinces, through the National Dairy Council, to-day appealed to the Gov ernment to assist export to Britain.
