Two Poles, Colonel Filipowicz and Captain Lewoniewski, have started on an attempt to beat the world iongdistance record. They are flying due east oyer the iSoyiet Union. The distance record is 5657 miles, held by MM. Maurice Codos and Paul Rossi, two Frenchmen, who flew from New York to a spot near Baghdad, raising the record held before that by the British Air Force Fairey 'plane, which flew from England to Walfish Bay, in South. Africa.
