CHILD LABOUR ENDED.
AMERICA'S NATIONAL RECOVERY SHORTER HOURS SUGGESTED. (United Press Association—Copyright). NEW YORK, September 11. As an instance of the benefits conferred by the National Recovery Act in New York, it is estimated that the million or so children who returned to school sis months ago would to-day be augmented by 20,000 child-workers released from industry. What some observers interpreted as a slowing down in re-employment in business generally was met by the statement by Mr W. Green, president of the Federation of Labour, who issued a warning against further modification of the Recovery Act regarding labour contracts, and demanded even shorter working hours. Mr Donald Richberg, N.R.A. counsel, declared that unless there was a better understanding on Labour provisions "the war between the various groups of employer and employees ■would involve all the people of America."
