The famous (Shyok ice dam in the Karakoram Range of the Himalayas is reported to have burst. A tremendous volume of water coming down the Indus .threatens to inundate the Punjab and Kashmir. This dam held back an artificial lake formed 17,000 feet up iu the Karakoram Range, which, on the occasion of the previous bursting of the dam, caused a flood of watei >SO feet high at Attoelc Bridge, 600 miles from the dam.
