The Rev. Eric W. Batts, who conduced the anniversary services at the South Dunedin Baptist Church last Sunday, returned to Ashburton yesterday.
Miss Oopenheim (travelling secretary of the Nurses' Christian Union) arrived in Ashburton by the express train this morning and will be the guest of the nurses at the Ashburton Public Hospital until Saturday morning.
Mr A. C. Wilson has received notice from London of his appointment as secretary for Ashburton of the College of Music. London, to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Miss A. E. dates.
Mr T. G. A- Harle, formerly of Ashburton," gave a lecture on fish research work with special reference to trout, to members of the Greymouth Acclimatisation Society on Tuesday evening. Mr Harle, who was president of the Ashburton Society, is a member of the New Zealand Fresh Water Fish Research Committee..
Bandmaster Harold Scotney, a leading Salvation Army composer and musician and conductor of the Wellington City Citadel Band, .will lead the Ashburton Salvation Army Bandis annual festival on August 1% 20 and 21. He will be accomnanied by Bandmaster H. Duttcn; of Petone, a brilliant eornetist, who will take part in all the services in conjunction with the festival.
The congregation of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Levin, on Sundav extended a call to the Rev. Dr lan Fraser, M.A., Th.D., of Wellington, wluT'iecently returned from a special study course in theology in England and America. (Dr. Fraser, who is a son of Mr Malcolm Fraser (UnderSecretary for Internal Affairs) has had a brilliant scholastic career.
