TOURS OF AUSTRALIA. WELLINGTON, August 8. The council oi. the i\ew Zealand Foot call Association to-night approved August 26 as’the date of the football Association Trophy match between Auckland and Otago, at Dunedin. A letter from the Australian Football Association intimated that the loss on the New Zealanders’ tour was £550 or £6OO. it was considered that the loss was due to the relatively lower standard of play of tile New Zealanders, compared with that of previous teams. The Australian Association was considering its policy regarding future tours, in view of the proposed visit to New Zealand in 1934. The Australian Association thought losses should be a. charge in future tours, and asked that Australia be given a percentage of the gates in order to recoup its losses. The secretary replied that the tour had cost New Zealand nearly £350 for assembling and outfitting. Mr H. Godber (manager of the team) did not agree that the standard of play was responsible for the loss. Now that the Australian report had been received, he was prepared to make a special report as to what he considered contributed to the loss. He thought ho would bo able to place a different complexion upon it.
