AN EARLY VISIT.
MINISTER INSPECTS SCHOOL. (Special to the "Guardian.") BLENHEIM, August 4. It is rarely that a Ministerial inspection of a school is made so early in the morning as was the case at Mangamanu, twelve miles north of Kaikoura, to-day. _, . The Acting-Minister of Education left Kaikoura sharp at 7 o'clock and arrived at the school at 7.35. There was a full attendance of the School Committee, some of whom had ridden six miles to meet the Minister, and for a few minutes the committee's request for improved accommodation was discussed. The Minister promised to deal with the matter on his return to Wellington. Long before 8 o'clock Mr Bitchener was again on his way.
