GOLFERS 5 PROBLEM.

GROWS ON THE LINKS. ABOUT FIFTY BALLS TAKEN. It is estimated that crows have taken more than 50 balls from the golf links at Binalong, New South Wales, in a recent period of three weeks. The 'essential principle of the game, "Keep your eye on the ball," has never been more .necessary, but the crows appear to be far more accomplished in this direction than most of the local players. The crows "souvenired" about a dozen balls during the Mylora Cup competition. Their daring and determination is remarkable. Binalong golfers were at first inclined to regard the matter as a good joke, particularly when the "other fellow's" ball was taken. AYhen it was estimated that more than 60 balls had been taken during the last three weeks, however, it was realised that a state of Avar prevailed. In an endeavour to counteract the offensive of the crows the players were compelled to depart from the etiquette so rigidly adhered' to by followers of golf. This resulted in many amusing incidents. Prominent players were seen to drive off and at once set out in hot pursuit of the ball, shouting and gesticulating. Even this ruse failed with one player, who lost two balls on the 17th fairway. In spite of the presence of many players on the adjoining fairways, the crows drop down and snap up the balls scarcely waiting for them to stop rolling, and ignoring the loud and uncomplimentary protests of players close at hand.
