CROQUET.

THE ASHBURTON CLUB. More than 60 members attended the closing of the Ashburton Croquet Club's season on Saturday, when a pleasant afternoon was spent under favourable weather conditions. Two competitions were held, and resulted as follow:—Senior hurry scurry, Mrs I. Gilchrist; junior hurryseurry, Mrs D. A. Morgan; senior golf croquet, for Mrs J. Lane's prize, Mrs J.Thompson • junior golf croquet for Mrs R. Tucker's prize, Mrs J. McElhinney. The prizes won during the season were presented by the president (Mrs J. Lane) as follow:—Senior break competitioin (Mrs W. Patterson's prize), J. Thompson; junior break competition (Mrs D. Heenan's prize), Mrs W. H. Amos; Tucker trophy for seniors, Miss M. Moore, with Mrs A. C. Cooper

runner-up; Watt trophy for juniors, Mrs G. Williams, with Mrs G. Meddins runner-up (Mrs W. H. Amos's prize); handicap doubles for Buxton brooches (Mrs R. Buxton's prizes), Mrs J. Smith and Miss E. Eagle; Buxton buttons for runners-up (Mrs R. Buxton's prizes), Mesdames G. P. Field and F. Buxton; senior champioinship (Mrs E. B. Newton's prize), Mrs L. C. O. Dunn, with Mrs F. W. Watt runner-up; junior champioinship (Mrs A. Lane's cup and Mrs E. H. Orr's prize), Mrs W. H. Amos, with Mrs A. T. Saunders runner-up; handicap singles, A section, J. Thompson 1, Mrs D. Heenan (Mrs L. C. O. Dunn's prize) 2; B section, Mrs W. H. Amos 1, Miss L. Watt 2; C section, Mrs W. J. Moore 1, Miss W. Bramley (Mrs W. 0. J. Osman's prize) 2.
