PROPERTY VALUES.
POSITION IN AUCKLAND. (Per Press Association) AUCKLAND, April 6. Commenting to-day on the Assessment Court, which has been hearing a large number of ratepayers’ objections, the city valuer said -that from the evidence given there appeared to bo no stable values in Auckland. All he could do was to try to keep values as uniform as possible, so tnat one sectioA of ratepayers would not he penalised by another section lodging objections. The only surprises were the remarkably low values placed on properties by some estate agents who gave evidence. When the same people were selling the properties a few years ago they had a different story to tell. The valuers and owners, when objecting, emphasised all the bad features. The city valuer added that he' could not yet say what the leductions made by the Court amounted to. It would be for the city council to decide whether the rates should be increased to make up for the loss of revenue that the reductions represented.
