NEW STATES.
INVESTIGATION IN AUSTRALIA (United Press Association—Copyright). SYDNEY, April 6. The New South Wales Government has appointed Mr H. S. Nicholas, a leading city barrister and a former journalist, to inquire and advise the Government in regard to areas in New South Wales, capable of self-govern-ment. This action was the outcome of an' election promise to the Country Party, which is an ardent advocate of the new states.
