Alauy people made their way to the hall at the advertised hour, but upon arrival no activity could he discovered and the mansion was found to he locked up. A member of the outdoor staff was unable to throw any light on the matter and stated that tho lord of the manor and his family were at the seaside.
After wandering around the grounds for a time it dawned on the company that they had been hoaxed and they dispersed. Who responsible for circulating the notices is not known.
