At, a meeting of the New Zealand Fruit Control Board at Nelson yesterday, Mr H. E. Stephens, of Stoke, was appointed chairman, says a Press Association telegram. Messrs L. Christmas and F. L. Smith will represent the Ashburton Grain and !Froduce Merchants Association at the Dominion Conference of merchants which will be opened in Christchurch next Wednesday. -

The Rt. Rev. Adam Begg, of Timaru, and Moderator of the Presbyterian General Assembly, will spend the week-end in Ashburton County. He will preach at Lauristoii to-morrow morning, at Chertsey in the afternoon, and in the excelling he will take the service at Ralcaia. where he was at one time in charge. The Rev. A. S. Morrison. of Rakaia, will take the services at Mr Begg’s church, Highfielcl Timaru.
