In the inaugural programme at the Madison Square Garden Corporation's new outdoor arena, "Strangler" Lewis won the" so-called catch-as-catch-can world's heavy-weight wrestling championship, throwing Dick Shikat (Germany) with a headlock after a hour, lasting one hour and six minutes. Twenty-five thousand spectators witnessed the contest. The arena was built to accommodate 80,000, and will lie used for the Jack Sharkey - Max Schmeling heavy-weight championship prize fight on June 21.
