MAN WITH LUGGAGE.
SEVENTY CABIN TRUNKS. Mr John H. Bartlett, Junr., of Oshkosh. Wisconsin, United States, handed a small suitcase to the porter on his arrival at a. London hotel. "The rest of my luggage is outside," he said. The porter went out to bring in the luggage. He returned a moment later, 'ancTthere was a frightened look in his eyes. "Is the luggage in that van all vours, sir?" he asked. "' "I'll say it is, boy," said the man from the wide, open spaces of the Middle West. The porter walked hurriedly throughout the hotel, collecting other porters on the way, until presently a platoon of them were lined up. An hour later "the rest of the luggage" belonging to Mr Bartlett had been taken in. It consisted of 70 cabin trunks, portmanteaux, suitcases, attache cases, golf club bags—a van load in all. / ' . Hotel servants and guests gazed open-eyed at the procession taking in the luggage of the man from OshkosL "How long is he staying, then?" asked a porter. "He's got enough lug-o-age for the rest of his life." The visitor from Oshkosh was staying only a month. . A newspaper reporter threaded Jus way through avenues lined with Mr Bartlett's luggage, and asked him if he had forgotten anything. Mr Bartlett laughed, and said: "All I have brought this time are half a dozen suits and changes of linen. 1 forgot my toothbrush, bufethat doesn t matter." , . . ~'• _ , xl • Mr Bartlett waved a hand at the luggage towering above him. "I represent a, trunk company," he said, "and these are my samples—£9oo worth in all." ■
