Widespread interest was aroused by the by-election- for St. George’s Division of Westminster, in which polling took place to-day. The candidates were Captain l DuffCooper (official Conservative) and Sir Ernest Petter (Independent Conservative), who made Mr Baldwin’s leadership lof the Conservative Party one of the principal issues of the election. Ho has been actively supported throughout the campaign by Lord Beaverbrcok and by newspapers controlled by him and Lord Rothermere. —British Official Wireless.
