Near Patelev Bridge, Yorkshire, is a dam which is'the biggest in Europe. Begun nine years ago by the Bradford Corporation,* ; it is now practically complete. Its purpose is to trap the waters of the Nidd and form a lake, which will supply an area of 120 square miles with water. Since the League of Nations was founded 311 prominent Americans have sat on its commissions and committees.
