Mr A. Cl. A. Baigent and Miss Beryl Butterick, of Canterbury College, have passed Latin 111. for Final B.A. and Second B.A. Both candidates are expupils of the Ashburton High School. At the annual meeting of the New Zealand Slieff"breeders’ Association at Christchurch last evening, Mr John Deans was elected chairman and Mr James Reid, vice-chairman. Mr L. G. McDonald, inspector of post office's for the Taranaki, Wanganui, Manawatu and Hawke’s Bay district for the last six years, is to retire at the end of this month on superannuation. He intends to take up his residence in the Waikato district. Mr McDonald was at one time well known in Ashburton, where ho resided till about 12 years agoA London cablegram states that Lieutenant-Colonel B. C. Froyberg, V.C., has been promoted to the rank of colonel, and appointed Assistant Quartermaster-General, Southern Command. Colonel Frevberg was educated at Victoria College, Wellington. He served with distinction in the World War, was mentioned six times in dispatches, and wounded nine times. He was awarded the V.C., D. 5.0., and two bars.
