TRADE IN DOMINION.

NEEO FOR A CAMPAIGN. FOREIGN GOODS IN SHOPS. (Special to "The Guardian.") CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Referring to the proposal to organise a campaign advocating trade by New Zealandors within New Zealand, Mr F. L. Hutchison stated at the meeting of the Citizens' Unemployment Committee yesterday that, the necessity for the campaign ' was apparent. While women as well as men were out of work, the shops were stocked full of foreign goods. It was a scandal that such a state of affairs should exist. The scheme on which the board was working Avould have a direct and beneficial effect. Mr Hutchison was of opinion that Cabinet was in sympathy with the proposal to promote a "Buy New Zealand Goods" campaign. jHe was sure that if the people, of New Zealand would 1 support the New Zealand industries, prosperity would return to the country. "The local bodies come into this," said Mr W. E. Leadley. "I was informed the other day that our own committee w.ts at fault, and, on asking why, I was told that a whole lot of picks and shovels purchased for the use of workmen at Spreydon were of foreign make." Mrs A. I. Fraer said that she had circularised the branches of the National Council of Women urging them to support the proposal and to arrange public meetings.
