SCHOOL OF FORESTRY.
AN AUCKLAND DEVELOPMENT. (Special to "The Guardian.") AUCKLAND, March 16. Developments in connection with the abolition of the Auckland School of Forestry transpired at a meeting of the University College Council, wheii the Council approved the action of the president, Sir George Fowlds, in terminating at six months' notice the engagement o-f Professor Corbiu as Principal of the School. Sir George Fowlds said the Council regretted that the Canterbury College Board of Governors had not seen fit to carrvi out the amalgamation of the two Schools of Forestry on the lines which were so clearly recommended by the Forestry Commission and which, in the opinion'of the Council, constituted the basis of the negotiations by the two Colleges with the .Minister for Education. He also regretted that the Canterbury Board had intimated that the staff of its own Forestry School was sufficient to carry on the Dominion School.
