LAV/ AGAINST SWEEPSTAKES. (United Press Association—Copyright). LONDON, March 10. The Court has dismissed the appeal of Gilbert Bovfus, against the Registrar of Companies, for refusal to register in England the Irish Hospitals Sweep limited. In course of the argument, Mr Justice Swift asked: Do you suggest, ji any Dominion Parliament passed an Act legalising sweepstakes, they will he lawful in Britain? Beyfus replied: I do. Chief Justice Hewart: Have you imagined what would happen ll the* Imperial- parliament undertook to say what was lawful in.the Free State? The-'Attorney-General (Sir William Jewett), appearing on boljall oj the Registrar.' declared that it was inconceivable that the domestic law m one part of the Empire- should regulate the conduct of citizens living in another part.
