HOSPITAL SYSTEM.
CHECK ON EXPENDITURE. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The Public Health Department is busy going through hospital boards’ estimates. In view of the Dominion’s economic position, every effort is being made to check extravagant expenditure but the Hon. A. J- Stallworthy (Munster of Public Health) announces that there is no suggestion to decrease the efficiency of the hospital system, noi is it proposed, as suggested in Opposition circles, to throw any additional burden on local ratepayers, A close scrutiny of hospital boards’ estimates of capital expenditure this year was operating in absolutely the opposite direction. Other proposals would be made to relieve the burden of local ratepayers.
