The “Daily Mail” says that the simultaneous lowering of the British, French and Belgian hank rates (joints to the co-operation of the world’s central hanking authorities, and indicates that arrangements have been made to avoid big gold movements. The Bank of France’s reduction to 2.1 per cent, is the lowest since IS9B. British trade and industry are not expected to benefit greatly from the reduced rate, as the big banks are refusing to lend to customers below the minimum of five per cent... irrespective of changes in the bank rate.
