Miss Elizabeth A. Morrison, of Rakaia, a student at Canterbury College, has been __ awarded a Senior Scholarship in 'Philosonhv.

The resignations of Miss B. Robertson, mistress at Barrhill School, and Mr F. R. Davis, master at Overdale, were accepted by the Education Board yesterday.

The appointments of Miss I. Stewart as assistant mistress at the Rakaia School and Miss F. M. Hunter as sole teacher at Rangitata Island were confirmed by the Canterbury Education Board yesterday.

The Hon. D. T. Fleming, M.L.C., has agreed, at the request of the Otago Education Board, to be renominated for the Council of Education (says a Press Association message).

Mr E. H. Andrews was nominated yesterday by the Canterbury Education Board for election to the New Zealand Council of Education as a representative of the South Island Boards. The four Education Boards in the Island elect among them two representatives to the Council.

Appreciation of the six years' service of Mr \V. A. Banks on the New Zealand Council of Education was expressed by the Canterbury Education Board at its meeting yesterday. Mr Banks declined a further nomination for the Council.

The Rev. E. C. W. Powell, vicar of Sumner, has accepted the cure of St. Saviour's, Sydenham, and will take up work in his new parish about the end of May. He was formerly at Methven, and left there-to go on active service as a chaplain with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. On his return to New Zealand 11 years ago he was appointed to the cure of Sumner.
