HOCKEY.
METHVEN LADIES’ JUNIOR CLUB A meeting was held in the Methven Anglican Hall for the purflfse of forming a junior ladies’ hockey team. There was a good attendance, and Mr W. J. Owen presided. All those present agreed to become members of the club. The following officials were elected: Patron, Mr J. Connolly ; president, Mrs H. Reid; vice-presidents. Mesdames J. A:- Callaghan, G. Kelly, A. Lawrence, A. Grieve and N. Crooks; lion, secretary and treasurer, Miss N. Owers; committee, Mesdames G. R. Cleeve, N. Mclntosh and Misses G. Owen, M. Owen, S. Hepburn, M. Grieve, B. Reid, M. Osborne, A. Leggett, M. Anderson, K.. Beary, J. Newman, M. Mclntosh and S. Reu 1 delegate to Ashburton Hockey Association, Mr A. G. McHardy. It was intimated that the Methven District High School was likely to enter a senior team for the County competition, and the secretary and Miss Reid were appointed to confer with the school with reference to sharing the cost of putting the playing ground in order. It was decided to obtain the services of Mr R. F. Renai as coach if possible. It was also decided to affiliate with the Ashburton Hockey Association, and to enter in the junior A grade competition. '
