LETTER TO EDITOR.
ITINERANT VENDORS.
Sir, —Human nature is inclined , to be selfish and one-sided. All that “Fair Play” had to say in your paper of April 9 may be true, but unfortunately it is not the whole truth. Within the last six months two of our most prominent shopkeepers have let building contracts to firms outside the County, when they are wholly dependent upon the custom of those within the County for the success of their business. If they think this good business, they have no moral right to complain if householders help themselves by patronising those who come from outside also, neither have they any moral right to expect the ratepayers, through the Council, to make by-laws for their protection when they do not consider the ratepayers.. REASONABLE.
