It is understood that the Federal Government has decided to grant assistance to manufacturers of _ newsnrint in Australia, probably in the form of a bounty of '£4 per ton on paper made in the Commonwealth, and an extra duty of £1 on imported newsprint. This follows the lines of the undertaking by the Bruce Ministry that aid would be given to local manufacturers conditionally on the output reaching 30,000 tons per nnnum.
