Bowling.—President’s Day in connection with the Ashburton Bowling Club was celebrated yesterday by a tournament between teams representing St. Albans and the local club. Scores were as follow, St. Albans names being mentioned first:—H. Healev, AV. I. L. Crew, AV. E. Alills, S. Bruce (s) 35, F. Serint, E. Alanchester, G. Meadins, AW Harrison (s) 14); R. Sneddon, J. Gresham, F. S. AJalcolm, F. AV. Johnston (s) 18, Fowler, P. Stewart, H. Craighead, R. J. Hart (s) 19 ; Stubbefield, Alcßride, Cunningham, Raphael (s) 19, Ryan, H. E- Bonningtoii, D. Thomas, Snodgrass (s) 21. Totals—St. Albans 72, Ashburton 54. ■Cricket.—A cricket match was played yesterday on the Domain Oval between the Tinwald and AVillowby cricket clubs. AVillowby scored 88 runs (AV. Bell 12, L. F. Andrewes 38, AV. Berryman 6, L. Stoddart 7, P. Prebble 9). For Tinwald, Alillichamp took five wickets. Tinwald replied with 145 (P. L. Orr 32, AM Bell 35 not out_, Clark 41 retired). Griffiths and Stoddart each took four wickets. Harvest Home Social.—A harvest home social of a most enjoyable char- . acter was held in Air James Brown’s granary on AVednesday evening. There were about 60. present. Alusic for dancing was supplied by Mr W. Anderson. Mr D. Skilling was AI.C. Items ,were contributed by Alessrs James Stewart and T. Cochrano. At the conclusion a hearty vote of thanks was accorded to the promoters, Aliss Walker and Mr J. McKay. New Zealand Farmers’ Co-operative Association’s Picnic.—The employees of the New Zealand Farmers’ Co-opera-tive Association, Ashburton, branch held their first annual picnic on Air A. F. Roberts’s property 'at AVesterfield on Ihursday, three drags conveying the employees and friends to their destination. A sports programme was gone through, the handicaps being arranged bv Mr S. AI.
